Bodymap

Think this came from an issue of Jill, circa '84, before it flew off the shelf and into the pocket of a collector. A nice 6 page special on Stevie Stewart and David Holah's legendary Body Map. According to a couple of people who were around in the 80's, for a few years Body Map was everywhere. Surely by now a retrospective is in order..

Haruko Wanibuchi and Kansai Yamamoto

Former Avedon Assistant Tad Wakamatsu's 1970 book 'Ipy Girl Ipy' is, as everybody knows, amazing. Also amazing is that Kansai Yamamoto did the costumes. These images are from First and Last, which is kind of a retrospective celebration of the original book, with lots of outtakes, interviews and texts. As the original Ipy Girl was a nude book, there wasn't so much in terms of clothing, so this is the first time Yamamoto's full designs have been seen. Enjoy!

Senti Roman - Nobuyoshi Araki

Visually striking, uncommon Araki photo novel. One of his better books and a fine early example of Araki's first person narrative style.

Erotoscope - Jean Claude Peretz / Raymond Abiego

Brilliant flipbook, featuring 3 models, in 12 layers of dress, nudity and hairstyles, with thousands of possible combinations. "Trois filles ensorcelantes!!! habillez-lez ou déshabillez-les! selon vos goût, votre humeur, au gré de votre fantaisie. 26568 combinaisons possible." Incredible.

Sam Haskins - Cowboy Kate and other stories

Was shown as part of 'The Open Book: A History of the Photographic Book from 1878 to the Present'. Important second book by Haskins, beautifully printed in gravure in Switzerland. A superb copy of the narrative, nude cult classic.

Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony

Really nice lookbook in the format of a flipbook, with of course, the looks, and drawings by Marika Thunder, Rita Ackerman, Lizzie Bogatos, Benjamin Cho, Dan Colen, Matt Damhave, Amy Gartrel, Lily Ludlow, and Spencer Sweeney. An excellent presentation.

Mary Quant's London

Slim, elegantly designed volume issued at the time of the Quant dress exhibition at Kensington Palace. Lots of great pictures, some unpublished elsewhere.
