Quite extraordinary photomontage by cult artist/poet/film maker and anarchist Shuji Terayama. Amazing images from the man who brough us the bizarre, brilliant and frankly disturbing 'Emperor Tomato Ketchup', theres no other book quite like it. From Bertolotti's Book of Nudes- "The photographs were reproduced in the manner of an old souvenir album…'as framed photos of staged portraits and' fake period postcards, with addresses and stamps in their proper place, and they were accompanied by a series of poems and handwritten annotations that emphasized the artist's intention of mixing expressive language with sophisticated photomontages."

Irina Ionesco - The Best Nudes vol.3

One of the most sought after of 'The Best Nudes' series. Filled with lots of rare work by Ionesco, including previously unpublished Eva. This is not to overlook the work also included by Karin Szekessy, which is also excellent. Essential for Ionesco fans.

Veronique Branquinho - Moi Veronique TouTeNUe

Lovely book published to coincide with her exhibition at Momu. Showing her influences very clearly, Branquihno starts with David Hamilton, Tim Burton and Lynch and ends up with quite magical androgynous, formal and noir-ish collections. Excellent.

6+ Antwerp Fashion

Brilliant introduction to the phenomena of the 'Antwerp Six' and the Antwerp school. Focusing mainly on the six themselves (Walter Van Beirendonck, Ann Demeulemeester, Dries Van Noten, Dirk Van Saene, Dirk Bikkembergs and Marina Yee) and of course Martin Margiela (of whom the plus sign in the title refers to), the book begins with their formal training and context to their first show in London in 1988, and their shared visions and ambitions. The book then goes on to the next generation (Branquihno, Vandervorst etc.) and other notable luminaries of the academy. Filled with photographs and stories, a fascinating insight into the processes of a generation of designers who changed fashion.

Very well produced book published to celebrate 10 years of Raf Simons. Raf Simons - The Fourth Sex

Really great and hugely exhaustive tome on teenagers, or 'The Fourth Sex'. Superb Contributions from a huge number of guests (Dead or Alive) including Cocteau, Lynch, Nabokov, J.G. Ballard, David Bowie, Larry Clark, Rudi Gernreich, Bernhard Willhelm etc. Chocked with so many superb images collected by Simons and Bonami. Rather like a huge visual research project, and very Simons-y. Texts are also notably good. A great book.

Seminal book on Bay Area hippie couture and folk craft. Far superior to any style file/sourcebook. Custom denim, embroidery, patchwork, quilting, Pristine Condition out of The Cockettes and lots of other underground faces showing and modelling their own designs. Pretty amazing.

One of the more stylish (and a little odd) punk photobooks, gig shots, street shots of Toyah Wilcox, Suby Barnes, Dee Marsh etc. contrasted with african tribal make-up, piercings etc. Stemmed from her project on religion, so a little different to most punk books of the same period. Very nice.

Wakamatsu's masterpiece. Here, he travels through America with actress Haruko Wanibuchi shooting bikers, hippies, New York, a fishing village etc. Its quite an amazing book, certainly one of the best Japanese Photobooks. Amazing scenes and nudes, and a rather surreal documentation of America in 1970.

Rather decadent project from Nakamura with japanese supermodel Emma Sugimoto, shot as the title suggests, in Africa. Another Bertolotti favourite, with an afterword by Sam Haskins. Beatifully put together, and pretty epic. Recommended.

Amazing first issue of Six, the cult Comme publication that ran for eight issues and was privately distributed. Very beautiful, the highlight of this issue are: some great Lindbergh work as always, some eye-poppinly amazing stuff from Sachiko Kuru (very Melvin Sokolsky), Cocteau, Arthur Elgort, an interview with Yohji Yamamoto and of course the Eileen Gray profile and the beautiful work of Keretz. There are also some lovely and fun die-cuts throughout, a really great first issue. Impressive.

Very beautiful, the highlight of this issue are: some great Lindbergh work as always, Robert Frank from 1947-1981 (amazing), Elgort in Sicily (also amazing), the somewhat surreal and eerie Koudelka from '68-'84, pre-fashion Saul Leiter (brilliant), anf then some NY Comme work from '89 which is a nice touch. Superb work by Lindbergh, including am amazing four page fold out panorama, amazing to see the work in such a large format. Possibly the largest format many of have these artists have been reproduced in aside from actual prints of their work. Quite astounding.

Mental book about the 'Daytime Studio 54'. Filled full of the famous Fiorucci graphics and anecdotes from its heyday. Popular with everybody from Warhol, Farah Fawcett, Marc Jacobs, Madonna, Lauren Bacall, Haring, Maripol, Jackie O, Gloria Vanderbilt, Calvin Klein etc. to the Paninaro kids in Milan. "A celebration of Fiorucci fashion and flash. More than a store, more than a line of clothes, Fiorucci is a whole point of view. Fiorucci invented junky chic and the whole world is buying it". A true pop phenomenon. Amazing.

A great Turbeville work. Primarily in colour, with work mainly from the late seventies and early eighties. Includes lots of the famous Bath House stuff, work for Italian Vogue, Comme des Garcons, Jean Muir, Diana Vreeland, Mary Martz and some pretty scarce work done for the publishers Parco (which is amazing).

Phenomenal project by Turbeville, much underrated. Grainy, eerie and atmospheric, she protrays in her own words "women.. ..A little out of balance with their surroundings, waiting anxiously for the right person to find them, and thinking that perhaps they are out of their time. They move forward clutching their past about them, as if the ground of the present may fall away".

From Bokomotiv: "In the nineteen seventies, photographer Esaias Baitel lived in France, in the Parisian suburb of Aubervilliers, for five years, which, among other things, resulted in a book and an exhibition that has toured the world... ...The Zone describes a neighborhood where motor bikes, rock and roll, and swastikas go hand in hand. In order to get close to these "Rockers", Esaias had to tell them that he was a Swede of Walloon origin. To introduce himself as a Jew in this environment would not have been cool. The photos do not show lost or mislead youths, but take us very close to a integrated subculture, with entire families and small children. / There are a lot of films and documentaries about the problems that immigrants encounter in France. Here we get to see the pictures of the other side. Confrontations are not hard to imagine. Esaias Baitel's photos pointed towards the future. In the nineteen seventies, he documented something that later was to erupt throughout Europe: the different forms and shapes of neo nazism. Great first book from the underrated Vilander, who is more known for the superb 'Vive le Sex'. 1967 was something of a boom year for the genre of the nude photobook and Vilander's work stands out as one of the more original and better contributions to the genre. Elegant, fun, and very good. Like a fashion shoot with little (or no) clothes. Recommended
