Pierre Le Gall - Des Parisiennes

Edition : First / Paris / Syros / 1987 / Hardcover. / VG+
Oblong 4to, Unpaginated (ca 176pp). Laminate boards. Black & White plates. Text in English and French.

Another of the great accidental references. Le Gall is a pretty straightforward street photographer, though he categorises his work by city, gender, occupation and so on. Here turns himself to Parisiennes. Shot in 1986 and 1987, it's an incredible ducumentary, very much in the vein of Kurimoto's Girl's Fashion. Le Gall also seems to be interested in details- Hair, Zips, people carrying thing, certain facial expressions and sequences/categorises his images by the most subtle of details. One of the great street documentary references.

Michael Clark Company v The Fall : I am Curious, Orange

One of Michael Clark's better known outings- in collaboration with the Fall. With Leigh Bowery, lighting by Charles Atlas and costumes by Bodymap. Traditional 'high culture' gets the post punk/new wave treatment!

Michael Clark Company : Because We Must 1987

Programme for Michael Clark's stunning piece with Charles Atlas, Bodymap and Leigh Bowery.

Deborah Turbeville 1984 : Agence Fam Portfolio (signed)

A complete unknown from Turbeville who was a friend of the agency, with a very small number of copies produced, even less of which survived. Comissioned by Fabienne Martin's model agency Fam in 1983 as a gift to their clients and designed, shot and laid out by Turbeville. Printed by L'imprimerie Moderne du Lion on paper from Papeteries de Guyenne, the folio reproduces 12 of Turbevilles images in a calendar format.
