Very scarce. Stellar issue of Six, the cult Comme publication that ran for eight issues and was privately distributed. Tip!

Deborah Turbeville. Les amoureuses du temps passe.

Untitled Document
Turbeville, Deborah. Les amoureuses du temps passe. Tokyo: Parco, 1985. First Edition. Small 4to. 96pp. Printed wraps with Obi in acetate dustwrap. Profusely illustrated in colour and duotone. Obi a little grubby, and the brittle acetate dw has a couple of chips. More images available on request. VG+ in VG dust-jacket. Softcover.

A great Turbeville work. Primarily in colour, with work mainly from the late seventies and early eighties. Includes lots of the famous Bath House stuff, work for Italian Vogue, Comme des Garcons, Jean Muir, Diana Vreeland, Mary Martz and some pretty scarce work done for the publishers Parco (which is amazing).

Deborah Turbeville. Wallflower.

Untitled Document
London: Quartet, 1978. First Edition (UK). Large 4to. 90pp. Printed boards in photographic dustwrapper. Profusely illustrated in black & white and colour. Dustwrapper has a couple of closed tears to tail of spine and a bit of rubbing. Else very good. Un price-clipped. More images available on request. VG+ in Good dust-jacket. Hardcover.

Phenomenal project by Turbeville, much underrated. Grainy, eerie and atmospheric, she protrays in her own words "women.. ..A little out of balance with their surroundings, waiting anxiously for the right person to find them, and thinking that perhaps they are out of their time. They move forward clutching their past about them, as if the ground of the present may fall away".

Cynthia MacAdams. Emergence.

Untitled Document
MacAdams, Cynthia. Emergence. New York: Chelsea House, 1977. First Edition. 4to, 120pp. Black boards in photographic dustwrap which is a little worn. Numerous Black & White plates. Gift inscription to titlepage. More images available on request. VG in VG dust-jacket. Hardcover.

Brilliant portrait of American women by Macadams including Patti Smith, Laurie Anderson, Margie Beals, Marisol Escobar, Laurel Wise, Michelle Phillips, Jane Fonda, Barbara Hammer and loads of other cool as hell cats. Brilliant.

Esaias Baitel. Zonen.

Untitled Document
Baitel, Esaias. Zonen. Stockholm: Bokomotiv, 1982. First Edition. Oblong 4to, 144pp. Printed boards as issued. First and only edition. Numerous Black & White plates. Introduction and afterword in Swedish. Boards a little rubbed to edges. More images available on request. VG+. Hardcover.

Scarce. From Bokomotiv: "In the nineteen seventies, photographer Esaias Baitel lived in France, in the Parisian suburb of Aubervilliers, for five years, which, among other things, resulted in a book and an exhibition that has toured the world... ...The Zone describes a neighborhood where motor bikes, rock and roll, and swastikas go hand in hand. In order to get close to these "Rockers", Esaias had to tell them that he was a Swede of Walloon origin. To introduce himself as a Jew in this environment would not have been cool. The photos do not show lost or mislead youths, but take us very close to a integrated subculture, with entire families and small children. / There are a lot of films and documentaries about the problems that immigrants encounter in France. Here we get to see the pictures of the other side. Confrontations are not hard to imagine. Esaias Baitel's photos pointed towards the future. In the nineteen seventies, he documented something that later was to erupt throughout Europe: the different forms and shapes of neo nazism. The photos are accompanied by Esaias Baitel's texts, describing his experiences living among the Rockers." An important, intimate and chilling work.

Iva Vilander. La femme vue par un femme.

Untitled Document
Vilander, Ica. LA FEMME vue par un femme. Paris: La Table Ronde, 1967. First Edition. Square 4to. (30x30cm) Unpaginated (120pp). Pink cloth with gilt in photographic dustwrapper. Numerous Colour and Black & White plates. Preface in French. Endpapers a little foxed. More images available on request. VG+ in VG+ dust-jacket. Hardcover.

Great first book from the underrated Vilander, who is more known for the superb 'Vive le Sex'. 1967 was something of a boom year for the genre of the nude photobook and Vilander's work stands out as one of the more original and better contributions to the genre. Elegant, fun, and very good. Like a fashion shoot with little (or no) clothes. Recommended

Bill Bernstein and Vita Miezitis. Night Dancin'

Untitled DocumentBernstein, Bill; Miezitis; Vita. Night Dancin'. New York: Ballantine Books, 1980. First Edition. Small square 4to (21 x 21cm), 220pp. Stiff printed wraps as issued. Numerous Black & White plates. Text in English. Covers a little rubbed but surprisingly crisp and sharp. More images available on request. VG+. Softcover.

Absolutely killer book made by those who know (well sort of). Covers nearly all of the major spots that were open at the time i.e. Studio 54, Xenon, Paradise Garage, Crisco Disco, Le Clique, Leviticus, Mudd Club and loads of others you may or may not have heard of (the saint hadn't opened yet, don't think the danceteria had either and the loft was in a transition period). Superb texts which are pretty substantial and lots of amazing pictures by Bernstein, which you don't really see elsewhere. It really is a brilliant guide to what going out in NY would have been like at the time (unless you know someone who was knocking around). Pretty obsessed with the roller disco section at the moment.. Phew!

Bruce Weber / The Andy Book

Untitled Document
Bruce Weber. The Andy Book.

Weber, Bruce; Minsker, Andy. The Andy Book. Tokyo: Doeisha, 1987. First Edition. 4to, Unpaginated. French fold wraps as issued. Numerous Black & White plates. Text in English, with Japanese translation booklet laid in. A beautiful copy with just the tiniest amount shelfwear to corners and edges. More images available on request. Near Fine. Softcover.

One of the great Weber books. His profile of smalltown hero and featherwight champion Andy Minsker (who also modelled for Calvin Klein and things) somehow sums up everything he does i.e. casual male glamour. The pictures and brilliant, and the book is an excellent complete work.

Versace: L'Abito per Pensare

Untitled Document
Versace, Gianni; Weber, Bruce; Avedon, Richard; Newton, Helmut; Bourdin, Guy; Meisel, Steven et al. Gianni Versace : L'abito per pensare. Milan: Arnoldo Mondadori, 1989. First Edition. Folio, 352pp. Printed Wraps. Text in Italian. Numerous Colour and Black & White plates. First and only edition. A little rubbing and creasing to covers and corners as shown. More images available on request. VG+. Softcover.

Very very superb and large book of Versace's work from 1977-1989. The late seventies work is really great, not yet signature Versace, and shot by Newton and Bourdin amongst others. Book shows an excellent development into what became the classic Versace style. Full of not only amazing editorials, but work in progress and runway shots, details, fabrics, moods etc. Also key is the 80's work by Avedon, and some great work by Gianpaolo Barbieri. A scarce, brilliant and complete survey of Versace's early work. Essential.

The World : 254 East 2nd Street N.Y.

Untitled Document
Lupino, Stephan; Musto, Michael. The World : 254 East 2nd Street N.Y. Munich: Graphics Photos Art, 1988. First Edition. 4to. Unpaginated (120pp). Printed wraps as issued. Numerous Black and white and Colour images. Text in English. More images available on request. VG+. Softcover.

Much underrated photobook of 'The World'- A club that seemed to span the twilight years from the end of disco to the beginnings of house music. Run from a disused 1920's dancehall, and attracting a diverse clientele of Banjees, Voguing houses, straights, fags, the staff of the Tunnel, the Rock 'n' Roll Fag Bar crew, Larry Tee in a silk flared jumpsuit and a bunch of famous people (Keith Haring, Madonna, Brooke Shields, Prince, Stephen Sprouse etc.) So- the book- full of amazing images, few quotes at the front and back, and a killer colour section in the centre. Very atmospheric and cool as hell.

Ica Vilander. Vive Le Sex.

Untitled Document
Vilander, Ica. Vive Le Sex. Gutersloh: Heinz Peter, 1970. First Edition. 4to. (30x30cm) Unpaginated (80pp). Black cloth in photographic dustwrapper. Numerous Colour and Black & White plates. A little shaken, but bright and complete. The notoriously scarce dustwrap is complete, a little rubbed with a couple of tape repairs to rear. More images available on request. VG+ in VG dust-jacket. Hardcover.

Superb photobook from the hippie-ish Vilander, who is notable for being one of the few women to shoot nudes. Very stylish and great fun. Mixes collage with photography, great cropping, props and styling. Cited in Bertolotti. One of the more interesting and elusive nude photobooks of the 60's/70's, and more about sex itself than male desire, if you see what I mean. Recommended.

La Maison Martin Margiela

Untitled Document
Margiela, Martin; Duits, Thimo te (Ed.). La Maison Martin Margiela (9/4/1615). Rotterdam: Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, 1997. First Edition. 8vo. 154pp. White raw edged cloth as issued. Numerous Colour and Black & White images. Text in English. Fine condition with no marks or inscriptions. More images available on request. Fine. Hardcover.

A real treat here! The first book by Margiela, which accompanied the MMM show at Boijmans. Very much a conceptual project, with the team taking one piece from every collection since the beginning, reproducing it in white, cream and grey, and covering it with bacteria specially created for the show, which then grew, ate and changed the colours of the clothes during the duration of the exhibition. The book itself comprises 3 parts, firstly- archive photographs of the garments chosen, second- garment descriptions, diagrams, and the original press releases with space for notes, and the third part comprises the research into bacterias and micro organisms by collaborator Dr. van Egeraat, with numerous photographs and diagrams. Really brilliant.

Yohji Yamamoto. E-Z GO 1992.

Untitled Document
Yamamoto, Yohji; Saville, Peter, Shultz, Nina; McLean, Bruce et al. E-Z GO 1992. Paris: Yohji Yamamoto, 1992. First Edition. Folio, 64pp. Printed wraps. Full colour images. More images available on request. Near Fine. Softcover.

Incredibly scarce. Yamamoto collaboration with Bruce McLean, Schultz and art directed by Peter Saville for Pentagram. CIted by Andrew Roth in 'Promo: Fashion Publications from the '80s and '90s' as the highlight of Yamamoto's printed output. Rather conceptual in scope- bridging the gap between artists' books and fashion publishing. Brilliant.

London. Cassell. 1968. First Edition. 8vo, 204pp. Orange cloth in un price-clipped dustwrap. Numerous Black & White plates throughout. More images available on request.. Softcover.. Book: Fine. Dustwrap: Near Fine.

Superb biography published in '68 back when hairdressers were superstars. Superb stories and anecdotes, interspersed with some great pictures of Peggy Moffitt, Mia Farrow (getting the most expensive haircut in the world), Grace Coddington and the like but photographers such as Terence Donovan, Duffy etc. Super stuff.

Isabelle Anscombe / Punk

New York. Urizen. 1978. First Edition. 4to, Unpaginated. Numerous Black & White and Duotone images. More images available on request.. Softcover. Book: Near Fine. .

Brilliant, and very well designed visual overview of punk. Scrapbook in style with numerous original photographs, quotes and interview extracts and featuring pretty much anybody who was a part of the phenomenon including Iggy Pop, Vivienne Westwood, Rotten, Sioux, Joan Jett, Jordan, The Buzzcocks etc. One of the best punk books.

Dick Jewell Found Photographs

London. Privately Printed. 1981. Revised Edition. 12mo, 164pp (Unpaginated). Printed Wraps. Revised Edition of 1000 copies December 1981. With the signed laid in business/postcard. More images available on request.. Softcover. Book: VG+. .

Brilliant cult book from Jewell. Cited in Parr & Badger who describe it thus: "What Jewell collected were the discarded prints scattered in the vicinity of the booth, rejected presumably through disappointment at the machine's implacably objective results. The picture's framing and the machine's timing were often frustratingly out of synchronization with the subject. The flash would fire when the sitter as adjusting the rising seat or background curtain, or would malfunction just when the sitter had positioned him or herself in eager anticipation. Many thwarted customers angrily rejected the machine's efforts and threw them away, but not before tearing or defacing their own images in a curious form of self-mutilation, the state in which Jewell found many of the discards. But he lovingly stuck them back together again as best he could, and placed his collaged efforts in the larger collage of the book." Superb collages of photographs found in London and Brighton in the 70's. Top drawer stuff, deserves it's place as one of the greats.

Les Erotiques du Regard

Paris. Andre Ballard. 1968. First Edition. Folio, Unpaginated, (112pp). Printed boards as issued. 64 Black & White plates, with text collages. Boards a little bumped to corners, without tears and splits as is often the case. Large, but neatly written gift inscription to FFEP, from a friend of Delfau's. Pages and binding tight and clean. A super copy. More images available on request.. Hardcover.. Book: VG+. .

Pretty special, maybe our favourite photography book. Very much deserves it's place in not only Parr/Badger, but also Roth and Berlotti. Curious photo essay into the erotic of the everyday. Very original, somewhat voyeuristic, and pretty fascinating stuff, Delfau's Dadaist text collages also very noteworthy. Considered to be the most wanted photography books of the 20th century.

Bruce Davidson Photographs

London. Thames & Hudson. 1979. First Edition. Oblong 4to, 178 pp. Green boards in photographic dustwrap. 130 photographic plates. Neat remnants of ownership inscription to titlepage. Dustwrap a little yellowed and shelfworn to top and bottom as usual. More images available on request.. Hardcover. Book: VG+. Dustwrap: VG+.

Scarce early collection of Davidson's work. Has the amazing Brooklyn Gang, East 100th Street, Welsh Miners, Black America, England and Scotland, Topless restaurant and quite a few other projects, they're all pretty substantial too. One of the nicest Bruce Davidson books around.

Byron Newman / The Ultimate Angels

London. Hutchinson. 1984. First Edition. 4to, ca 96pp. Black boards in photographic dustwrapper. Numerous Colour plates. More images available on request.. Hardcover.. Book: Near Fine. Dustwrap: Near Fine.

Great first book from Deluxe founder Byron Newman. A superb piece of reportage into transsexual society in Paris. Kerb crawlers, strippers, streets, apartments, nightclubs, brothels etc. A very powerful piece of work.

Paula Yates - Rock Stars in their Underpants

Pmenomenally amusing first book from Yates. Is exactly as the title suggests, I groaned when I first saw it, but its actually very good. The amazing thing is it really is a who's who of rock i.e. Blondie, the Boomtown Rats, David Bowie, Elton John, The Knack, Macca, Ted Nugent, The Pretenders, the Rolling Stones, Sparks, Rod Stewart, Van Halen, Thin Lizzy, The Specials, Motorhead, Frank Zappa, Rob Halford (Priest) and a bewildering array of others. The mind boggles.

Contents absolutely perfect, box a little rubbed to corners but still in a very good condition. More images available on request.. Hardcover. Book: Fine. Dustwrap: VG+.

Cripes, so- this is THE visionaire to own, certainly the best and most desirable issue. Described as a visual conversation with Kawakubo, includes contributions from Philip-Lorca DiCorcia, Karl Lagerfeld, Nick Knight, Mario Sorrenti, Peter Lindbergh, Paolo Roversi, Craig McDean & M/M, Inez Van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin, Joe McKenna, Alexander McQueen, Martin Margiela etc. Incredible. Dress from the 'Bloom' collection still sealed. Very highly recommended.

Raf Simons / Isolated Heroes

Somewhat scarce, particularly when signed by Raf Simons himself. Peter de Potter writes: "The series of photographs, collected under the banner 'Isolated Heroes', are the result of the collaboration British photographer David Sims and Belgian menswear designer Raf Simons undertook in the summer of 1999. Featured on the pictures are Raf Simons' models, dressed in his collection for Spring-Summer 2000. Each boy is credited with a serial number and his own first name. 'Isolated Heroes' contains both black and white and colour photographs. This collaboration was not a chance meeting. Both Sims and Simons had been outspoken about their mutual admiration, mostly in press interviews. Although the interest in each other's work developed into a firm friendship, they only decided to work together in the wake of Simons' Spring-Summer 2000-collection. Originally intented as a work-in-progress, Sims' photographs of Simons' models soon became a body of work in it's own right. The photographs of 'Isolated Heroes' were never intended for mere promotional purposes. They even transcend more traditional fashion photography, as they reach for a timeless quality, devoid of signs of the times or traces of trendiness. The pictures encapsulate both Sims' and Simons' vision with clarity and precision. The 'Isolated Heroes'-project deals with beauty, youth, masculinity and the perfect isolation of all these preoccupations." Encapsulates the ethos of Simons perfectly. A stunning and unique project.

Rare to see in such a fine condition. Stellar work by nude photographer Clemmer, taking 12 of Rabanne's skimpier offerings constructed from metalic lace and disks as his subject, a quite unusual, and very interesting book of cult nudes.
