Steven Meisel / Gianni Versace A/W 1998-1999

This is astounding- Steven Meisel's 1998-1999 portfolio for Versace. It's huge (43x32cm) and comprises 30 phenomenal Meisel photographs printed on thick, heavy cardstock in a printed slipcase. The work itself is part taxidermy and part renaissance costume drama via old master painting, with pitch perfect casting, styling, composition and depth. Those of you familiar with Leonardo/Bernardino/Raphael will spot the references! Elegant, funny and amazing.
